ST MARY’S PUC-CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF MOUNT CARMEL AND ENVIRONMENT DAY
The Eco Club strives to spread awareness amongst the students about various issues that are being faced by our planet regarding our environment and to foster an eco-friendly environment in the college campus.
On Friday , 14th July 2023 The Feast of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel and Environment Day was celebrated in the college auditorium of St Mary’s P.U College, Mangalore. The program was organized by the Eco Club students of I and II Sc and it began with a prayer song . Ayisha Shifa ,Secretary of Eco Club welcomed the gathering. Haya Fathima of I SC delivered an insightful speech highlighting the significance of environmental conservation. The audiences were enthralled to see the Dance drama, Mime show that depicted the awareness on the usage of plastics and explained the harmful effects of micro plastic to the nature. Songs sung by the students gave the audience a clear insight about the beauty of nature.
The college principal Sr. Sahaya Mary along with the students and lecturers planted saplings, symbolizing harmony and our responsibility to preserve and protect our planet. The principal congratulated Mrs. Smitha ( Lecturer in Biology and Eco Club Coordinator)and all the students for their active participation. She spoke on What is Carmel ? and explained the meaning of Carmel and the life of Prophet Elijah. She also motivated the students to safeguard the planet Earth for future generation. She also urged the all students to keep our surroundings Clean and made a commitment to have at least one indoor plant on their balconies and even in the college, promoting a green lifestyle.
Finally students were congratulated for their art and drawings and the results of Mehendi competitions were announced.The program was compered by Niza of I Sc and vote of thanks was proposed by Zainaba.
