ST MARY’S PUC – GIRL CHILD DAY CELEBRATION 2023-24
“Girls are the Spirit of our Nation, Save Them and Stop their Exploitation.”
The Girl child Day was celebrated at St Mary’s P.U College , Mangalore on 9th September,2023 to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and empowerment of girls. The event commenced with a prayer dance. The program was compered by Deemah (Commerce Secretary). Afrin Banu (Cultural Secretary) in her welcome speech shared that ‘INVESTING IN GIRLS MEANS INVESTING IN COMMUNITY, SOCIETY AND NATION AT LARGE’. Students of II com showcased their talents through a scintillating Dance Drama that depicted the challenges faced by the girls and also in nurturing their dreams. A compelling Mime was performed on ‘Save Girl Child’ apprised the audience with captivating slogans.
The college Principal Sr Sahaya Mary congratulated the program co-ordinator Mrs Treeza (Computer Science Lecturer) and all the students of II Com for their active participation in the program. In her speech, she highlighted all the students on the harmful and evil practices in our society and it can be overcome by protecting ourselves. She urged all the students to take active participation in all the college activities. She enlightened the students on the abuse and harassment that prevails in the society. The event was concluded by sharing the valuable insights from the students on the orientation program. Vote of thanks was proposed by Fathima Salwa of II Commerce.
