🇮🇳 ST. MARY’S PU COLLEGE, FALNIR, MANGALURU PRESENTS 🇮🇳 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION “Celebrating Freedom, Unity & Patriotism”

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotic fervour at St. Mary’s PU College, Falnir . A short cultural program was held for the PU students in the college auditorium on 14th August, 2026. The program commenced with a soulful prayer song by the students of II science. Nafeesa Taniya from II science welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, Lieutenant Mrs.Vijayalakshmi,the Principal of Shree Mahaveera College, Moodbidri. She was welcomed with a potted plant by the college principal, Sister Maria Gracilda. The audience was enthralled to witness an expressive welcome dance and an impactful mime act depicting the struggle for independence that renewed a sense of gratitude towards the freedom fighters among the students. A skit on the life of soldiers was portrayed proficiently by the students.

The chief guest in her speech congratulated and praised the efforts of the students and teachers in organizing such a meaningful celebration. She emphasized on the importance of education, as education is not about scoring good marks but how to become a good human being and face challenges in life. She concluded her speech by urging students to dream big, work hard and never give up. Sr. Maria Gracilda, the college principal appreciated the efforts of the students in proficiently presenting the patriotic performances.

She praised the in charge lecturers, Mrs. Supriya, Lecturer in Physics, and Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Lecturer in Chemistry, for their unique, creative, and inspiring programme, which was meticulously planned and executed. She also urged the students to focus on self-discipline by citing an example of a bird tied to a cord. She enlightened the students about the value of true freedom and the dangers of bad habits.

The celebration  ended with the singing of the National Anthem. The program was compered by Dilmah of I Science, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mariyam Sidra of II Science.

The formal programme was held on 15th August 2026, Saturday, in the college premises. Mrs. Sandini, the Chief Guest for the occasion, was welcomed and introduced to the gathering, To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chief Guest unfurled the Tricolour flag. As the Tricolour fluttered high, the National Anthem was sung by the students, expressing the joy of freedom. At the end, sweets were distributed to the gathering.
