ST MARY’S PUC – AWARENESS ON POSCO ACT
An informative session on POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) was organized at St Mary’s P.U College, Mangaluru on 3rd August, 2023 in the college auditorium. Mrs Sharmila Sanil, college council was the resource person of the program. She put all her efforts to raise awareness against child sexual offences and sexual harassment.
The aim of the programme was to sensitize students on POSCO related issues as child abuse is a concern that is being reported day by day and children being the vulnerable sections of society are physically, psychologically and emotionally abused. Mrs Sharmila shared the real life cases and examples of High schools, puc students and even young boys.
The students were educated upon awareness on Good Touch and Bad Touch, precautions to be taken to prevent children from being the victims of various crimes including Cyber crimes which is a growing concern in today’s world. The students were enlightened with the dangers of the internet and to protect them from cyber predators.
Overall the session on POSCO served an important step towards educating everyone on the importance of child safety and protection. The college took an significant step in equipping students and also the staff members with necessary knowledge and ensuring the safety of students in the college campus.
