INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATED AT ST. MARY’S P.U COLLEGE
International Yoga Day was celebrated at St. Mary’s P.U College on 20th June,2026 with immense vigour, enthusiasm and active participation from students and Lecturers. The event aimed to promote the importance of physical, mental and spiritual well-being among the school community. The program commenced at 11.00 a.m with a soulful prayer song conducted by the students of II Science and II Commerce setting a calm and meditative tone for the day. Ms. Nashwa Fathima from I Commerce welcomed the gathering and also introduced the Yoga Instructor Mrs. Kavitha Ashok. She was welcomed with a potted plant by the college principal Sr. Maria Gracilda. The program began with a brief introduction about the importance of yoga . The highlight of the day was the practical session led by Mrs. Kavitha with a light stretching and breathing exercises to prepare the body. Participants performed sequence of Asanas including Vrikshasana, Padmasana , Baddha Konasana (The butterfly pose) and Shavasana.The session concluded with Pranayama, the deep breathing techniques and a brief period of silent meditation to experience peacefulness of mind and body.
After the session Sr.Gracilda in her speech expressed her gratitude towards Mrs.Kavitha Ashok for sharing her knowledge and time with us .She addressed the students with a quote “Yoga is Nothing but Health and Health is wealth” and urged students to follow some routine excercises for better health and better living. The program was compered by Aysha Sunaina from I Science and vote of thanks was deliverd by Jameela Siza of II Science. The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
The event fostered the importance of a balanced and healthy lifestyle ,leaving all participants feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
