ST MARYS P.U COLLEGE HOLDS STUDENTS COUNCIL 2026-27 INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The Investiture ceremony for the academic year 2026-27 was held with great solemnity and grandeur at St Mary’s P.U College Mangalore, on 9th June, Tuesday in the college auditorium. The ceremony marked the formal induction of newly appointed student council.

The event was administered by Sr. Celine Veera the Local superior and Joint Secretary of St Mary’s Institution, Sr. Maria Gracilda the College Principal, Sr. Preema Headmistress of St Mary’s Kannada Primary, Sr. Shanthi Crasta Headmistress of St Mary’s English Primary, and Sr. Violette along with the faculty members.

The Inaugural ceremony commenced by invoking God’s Blessing with a meaningful prayer service and prayer song, followed by a formal welcome by Samiha Naaz of II Science. During this glorious event Sr. Maria Gracilda, the college Principal accorded a genial welcome to Sr. Celine Veera the chief guest for the occasion with a potted plant as a gesture of Respect and Hospitality.

A floral welcome was accorded to other dignitaries by the following lecturers: Mrs. Vijayalakshmi the lecturer in Chemistry, Mrs. Smitha Karat the lecturer in Biology, and Mrs. Savitha the lecturer in Commerce. An Inspiring and motivational dance was performed by the students of II Science which added a serene and cultural charm to the atmosphere.

Sr. Celine Veera and Sr. Maria Gracilda were escorted to the dais by the student president Aleemath Riza and Student Secretary Nafeesa Haifa for the Investiture ceremony. The Inaugural ceremony was initiated through Lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais along with Student coordinator. Mrs. Shyamala and all the newly appointed cabinet members. The auspicious lamp symbolized the dispelling of darkness and beginning of a new chapter in student leadership.


The Chief Gues and the principal adorned the cabinet leaders with badges and sashes. The principal then administered the oath of allegiance to the newly appointed cabinet leaders who swore to serve their Alma mater with utmost sincerity and to the best of their abilities. The college flag was unfurled by the student president and student secretary as a symbolic gesture to begin with the new academic year.

The Chief Guest then delivered an inspiring address urging the students to lead with compassion, responsibility and vision. She urged the students to uphold values, trust and also serve their duties with dedication. She also insisted students to foster unity, discipline and excellence in the college community.

Sr. Maria Gracilda, in her speech congratulated the newly appointed council members. She motivated the students with her golden views which would help the students to achieve their goals by performing their duties with full dedication. An audio was played on the theme, “HOW TRUE LEADERS ARE MADE”, which helped the students to imbibe the true meaning of leadership.

She reminded the students that leadership is not just titles but about service, compassion and inspiration. She highlighted on the importance of patience, respect and calmness. She urged the students to take risk as “TODAY’S LEARNER ARE TOMORROW’S LEADER.” She enlightened the gathering on the founding Mothers of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel -Mother Veronica and Mother Aloysia, who expanded the congregation’s educational mission across the region.

In her address, the principal also appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Shyamala the Lecturer in
Mathematics, Ms.Supriya – the lecturer in Physics and all the students of II science for organizing the
ceremony with great discipline and decorum. She praised all the lecturers for their support, planning
and execution as she opined that program succeeds due to faculty’s guidance and support.

The program was followed by a felicitation ceremony by Sr. Celine Veera and Sr. Maria Gracilda to honor and appreciate the faculty members for securing outstanding results in the recent II PUC Board Examinations.

The program was compered by Zohara Ifha Khateeja and the event concluded with a heartfelt vote of
thanks by Student president Aleemath Riza . The ceremony ended on a patriotic note with the
National Anthem, followed by a photo session capturing precious moments with the student leaders.
