St Mary’s PUC – Celebrates Independence Day 2023
77th Independence day celebration was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at St Mary’s P.U College ,Mangaluru. A short cultural program was held for the P.U students in the college auditorium on 14th August, 2023. The program commenced with a prayer service by the students of 1st commerce and welcome speech was delivered by Zainaba Ishana (I com). The importance of the day was highlighted by Alishba Salma of 1st commerce. Patriotic songs were sung by the students in remembrance of all the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives for our motherland. The audience were enthralled by the dance drama that depicted the life history of Rani Laxmibai-the brave ruler of the princely kingdom of Jhansi.
The college Principal Sr. Sahaya Mary in her speech congratulated Mrs Thanujakshi (Programme co-ordinator) and all the students for their brilliant and captivating performances. She highlighted on the importance of Independence day and also spoke on the brave deeds of ‘Chandrashekar Azad’ who made a significant contributions to the freedom and independence movement against the British.
The program was compered by Anisha Fathima (I com) and Niza Rukiya (I com) delivered Vote of thanks. The program ended by taking pledge and singing of the National Anthem.
The formal program was held on 15th August 2023,Tuesday in the college premises. The program was compered by Mrs.Veena Teacher of High school. Mrs. Aarthi Dheeraj, The chief guest for the occasion was escorted by P.U principal Sr sahaya Mary, High school principal Sr Nandika and Kannada primary H.M Sr Preema.
The program started at 8.30A.M in the college premises with large crowd of students, staff and parents. Mrs Aarthi unfurled the tricolor flag. As the tricolor fluttered high the national Anthem was played and “Vijay Vishwathi song” was sung by the students and staff saluting the national flag with great pride. The school band swing into action for the traditional March Past. The students of High school marked with Zest and pride. The chief guest addressed the gathering with her thought provoking message. Students from high school paid melodious tribute to our glorious nation through patriotic song. Winners of March Past were awarded during the program by the chief guest.
Vote of thanks was rendered by Mrs Deborah Maria Pinto. The celebration ended with the distribution of sweets to the students.
